A Good Immune System is the Key to Staying Healthy This Flu Season
Prevent Influenza, COVID-19, and R.S.V. this year
As we enter flu season, taking care of your immune system is more important than ever.
This flu season isn't your typical flu season. We are not only looking at influenza and COVID-19 but R.S.V. as well.
Even those who normally get vaccines still need to take care of their bodies and ensure they can fight off these viruses.
Your body's ability to fight off sicknesses and protect itself relies on your immune system, which is heavily influenced by your gut health.
What is R.S.V.?
R.S.V. is a common respiratory virus that can cause severe infections in infants and young children, as well as the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
Respiratory syncytial virus is a well-known respiratory virus. In non-serious cases, the symptoms resemble a cold.
Although most patients get better within a couple of weeks, R.S.V. can still be dangerous, especially for infants and elderly adults. R.S.V. is actually the primary cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants throughout America.
Those with a good immune system are much more likely to be protected from viruses like R.S.V. than those without.
Fortunately, there is a way to protect your immune system against these viruses and other illnesses: the 4R Protocol.
Our 4R Protocol Series
As we touched on in our previous posts, the 4Rs in functional medicine is key to restoring gut health.
This time, we're focusing on how removing food allergens, toxins, and infections can improve your overall wellness.
The 4R Protocol: How to Increase Your Functional Health Span is about understanding the protocol and making it work for you. This article covers the basics of each step to help you start planning your journey to better gut health.
Next, we went into detail on How to Apply the 4Rs in Functional Medicine. This article talks about applying the first two Rs: removing and repairing. We discussed which foods to eliminate and how to replace them to begin the process of creating new healthy habits that will give you a better quality of life.
This week, we are focusing on re-inoculating your gut by adding the right bacteria to improve your microbiome. The 4R Protocol: Time to Re-Inoculate is about adding new bacteria and other "good" microorganisms to your gut.
Check out these articles and let us know if you have any questions. If you decide to implement the 4Rs in your own life, we would love to hear about your experience.
